This is the same wood sold in all our ready to grow bags.

Makes 6.9 kgs of a substrate or with 50 % soy hulls 13.8 kgs of substrate

100% sustainable natural silver beechwood from the south island of NZ. Our native mushrooms love it.

You can use these blocks as the Americans do with hardwood fuel pellets. Really clean and dry substrate gives you an advantage when first starting out.

You can also buy the soy hulls here:

https://www.mushroomgrowing.nz/collections/growing-products/products/soy-hulls-2-7-kg-for-mixing-with-hardwood-fuel-pellet

You get 3x beech blocks that weigh 2.7 kgs

Perfect substrate recipes:

1 Block = 900 grams add 1.4 liters of water

Total substrate weight  = 2.3 kgs of ready to use substrate

2 Blocks = 1.8 kgs add 2.8 liters of water

Total substrate weight = 4.6 kgs of substrate

3 Blocks = 2.7 kgs add 4.2 liters of water

Total substrate weight = 6.9 kgs of substrate

Using 50% Beech and 50% Soy hulls:

1 Beech block = 900 grams + 900 grams (3 cups) soy hulls add 2.8 liters of water

Total substrate weight =  4.6 kgs  of 50/50 substrate

2 Beech blocks = 1.8 kgs + 1.8 kgs (6 cups) soy hulls add 5.6 litres of water

Total substrate weight = 9.2 kgs of 50/50 substrate

3 Beech blocks = 2.7 kgs + 2.7kgs (9 cups) soy hulls add 8.4 litres of water

Total substrate weight = 13.8 Kgs of 50/50 substrate

Hardwood Pellets

Great service and support. The first bags with these hardwood pellets, instead of straw, have colonised much quicker and more strongly. Looking good so far.

Do we still need to sterilize the substrate ? Or just add water and ready to use. Please advise. Thanks
